What is a Website Wireframe?

In the process of designing and developing a website, whether it is a redesign or a brand new website, one of the most critical aspects in the process is creating an effective website wireframe.

A website wireframe is a blueprint, a visual guide that represents the skeletal framework of a website.  The wireframe depicts the page layout and arrangement of the website’s content, including interface elements and navigational systems and how they work together. The wireframe usually lacks typographic style, color, or graphics, since the main focus lies in functionality, behavior, and priority of content. In other words, it focuses on what a screen does and does not look like. This plan is created for the desktop and mobile versions of a website. Below are some website wireframe samples for both desktop and mobile devices.
