What is Google My Business?
Google My Business is the Key
Google My Business is a tool that enables you to manage and optimize your “Business Profile” on Google. To better understand what is Google My Business and how it works, let’s be clear about what a Business Profile is.
What is a Google My Business vs a Business Profile?
A Business Profile is Google’s term for your Google business listing. Business Profiles appear in Google Maps and in the local results of a Google search. The process of creating a Business Profile begins when an individual, automated listing generator, or even a stranger adds a business to Google Maps. Google requires the business name, location, and business category to generate a Business Profile.
Once Google generates the Business Profile, anyone on the web can edit it. Customers can leave reviews, add photos, ask questions, and even answer questions. The Business Profile may also get populated with information that Google pulls in from across the web. You can imagine the problem with this. You have no control over the branding of your Business Profile.
This is where “Google My Business” comes in. By creating a Google My Business account, you can access, customize, manage, and enhance your Business Profile on Google, all still for free. We encourage you to check your Business Profile by going to the Google Business Profile Manager and following Google’s steps to claim your business.
